The Centre for Functional and Metabolic Mapping (CFMM) is located in the A.M. Cuddy Wing of the Robarts Research Institute at the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario, Canada. This facility was the site of the first fMRI (functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging) facility in Canada and currently operates the country’s highest magnetic field strength human and animal scanners. The CFMM facilities inlcude 3 MRI scanners, including a 3 Tesla whole-body Siemens system, a 7 Tesla head-only Siemens/Varian system, and a 9.4 Tesla small animal system. A variety of researchers utilize this facility to conduct in-vivo studies of brain structure and function, including the assessment of brain metabolism and physiology, cognitive function, and vascular dynamics, as well as in-vitro and animal models using various advanced nuclear magnetic resonance imaging and spectroscopy techniques.

Operating under the direction of Dr. Ravi Menon, the Canada Research Chair in Functional and Metabolic Imaging, the CFMM is a unique facility in Canada that welcomes researchers from across the country and around the world. In additon to our MRI scanners we also have an in-house RF Design Suite, dedicated research scientists, and a full range of support staff and facilities.

Welcome to the Centre for Functional and Metabolic Mapping!
