Dr. Beth Osuch

Department of Psychiatry

Preliminary investigations have begun with bipolar disorder patients with similar magnetic resonance spectroscopy techniques with Dr. Osuch, the Rea Chair in Mood and Anxiety Disorders. It is curious that these patients demonstrate a different pattern of metabolic changes affecting neural circuits which would be expected to be involved in mood regulation. Our grant from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research will allow us to examine longitudinal changes in these patients in the first years of illness in collaboration with Dr. Osuch. Dr. Osuch is also pursuing innovative functional MRI paradigms related to emotional and cognitive processing in association with Dr. Derek Mitchell.
