Mr. Gati joined the Laboratory for Functional Magnetic Resonance Research at Robarts in 1996 in order to manage the newly acquired 4 Tesla human MRI system, one of only 6 in the world at the time. Mr. Gati has recently has been appointed the facility manager for the Centre for Functional and Metabolic Mapping which includes overseeing the day-to-day operations of the 3T/7T MRI and newly constructed 9.4T MRI facilities.

Mr. Gati also manages to maintain his own research interests in the area of novel fMRI contrast and high resolution functional MRI for which he has obtained grant funding in the capacity of a co-applicant. Since 1996, he has been involved in over 50 different research projects including many international collaborations resulting in over 40 peer reviewed publications in such journals as Science, Neuron and The Proceedings of the National Academy of Science.
