The spinal cord is the messenger between the brain and body.  Diseases such as MS and cervical myelopathy attack the spinal cord, causing symptoms that include loss of mobility and sensory touch.  Both anatomical and functional MRI research hopes to uncover the disease mechanisms leading to more effective therapy or possibly a cure.
